People who visited their departed loved ones’ graves at the Pasig Catholic Cemetery celebrated All Saints’ Day this year in a far different way from the previous years.

I observed that streets inside the cemetery were still submerged in floodwaters or filled with dust a month after Typhoon "Ondoy" rampaged over Metro Manila.

Instead of just visiting their departed kin on November 1, several people were still cleaning the tombs early morning on that same day. Some used boots just to be able to visit and light candles in areas still partly submerged in floodwaters.
Local government employees busy pumping floodwaters out of the cemetery throughout the day. The waters were brought on by Typhoon "Santi" which visited the capital the night before All Saints Day.

Along the street behind the cemetery, which was usually full of parked cars, were vendors selling food, flowers and candles.

As I walked around the cemetery, I could say people still felt the effects of the typhoons and they were not able to prepare the November 1 celebration unlike in the past years. I also noticed that the number of people who visited the cemetery were not as many as in the previous years. – ABS-CBN Interactive
