Math teacher accused of raping 12-yr-old pupil

A math teacher from Mandaluyong City is facing rape charges for allegedly raping his 12-year-old pupil whom he allegedly enticed by giving her a mobile phone and iPod.
A TV Patrol World report said Orville Persiano, a class adviser and math teacher of Pleasant Hills Elementary School in Mandaluyong, is accused of raping "Princess" (not her real name) several times since June last year.
Princess said her teacher threatened her not to tell anyone about the abuse. She said she was last abused in their school comfort room in Mandaluyong this Monday, January 5.
Her sister later discovered the abuse after reading text messages from the suspect on Princess's cell phone, which was given by the teacher.
In an interview, Persiano denied raping Princess but admitted giving her an iPod and Nokia 1208 as gifts for Christmas and her birthday. He also said the pupil has a boyfriend.
A medico-legal exam conducted last January 3, 2009 showed that the girl had lacerations in her vagina, indicating that she had intercourse.
