MANILA - Parañaque Rep. Roilo Golez on Monday urged the Skyway Operations and Maintenance Corp. (Somco) and Toll Regulatory Board to cut Skyway's toll rates until construction of Phase 2 of the Skyway project is finished.
In a resolution filed before the House of Representatives, Golez said the toll rate cut should be done in consideration of motorists who endure heavy traffic on the stretch from Bicutan to Alabang while construction of the highway's extension is being finished.
Northern Samar Rep. Paul Daza earlier urged the lower house to conduct an inquiry into the Skyway extension project after its contractor, Citra Metro Manila Tollways Corp. (Citra), failed to start construction immediately.
He said the public should be informed about the contents of the contract including the terms of reference for the build-operate-transfer deal that covers about 20 years of unhampered control of the Skyway by Citra.
