8th most wanted in region slain in Cavite

CALABARZON -- Police killed Calabarzon’s (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) No. 8 most wanted person during a shootout in Cavite Thursday morning.
Cavite Police Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Jonathan Miano identified the suspect as Alfredo Monton, a resident of San Sebastian, Kawit, Cavite.
Monton has a pending warrant of arrest for murder over the killing of Engr. Jeffrey Eguilar on March 24, 2002.
Miano said the suspect engaged members of the Noveleta Municipal Police into a shootout when they were about to serve the arrest warrant. The gun battle led to Monton's death.
Calabarzon PNP Regional Director Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad said Monton was listed as the No. 8 Most Wanted Person in the region with an approved monetary reward of P300,000.00 for his arrest.
