CAMP OLIVAS, PAMPANGA - A former red guerilla fighter was gunned down by two unidentified gunmen in Barangay San Juan in Samal town in Bataan high noon Tuesday, police said.
Jess Ortega, a rebel returnee, of Calaguiman, Samal, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, police reports said.
The suspects, police said, casually walked away from the crime scene. One of them was identified as a certain Ka Axis, allegedly a member of the Reblusyunaryong Hukbong Bayan (RHB).
Initial police reports said the victim was heading home for lunch when the suspects blocked his path and shot him point blank.
Police investigators found four spent shells for caliber 45 and 9 mm pistols.
Police investigators have yet to determine the motive in the killing but agents of the 3rd Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (3CIDU) of Bataan police provincial office vowed to dig deeper into the case.
Superintendent Warren de Leon, 3CIDU provincial chief in Bataan, said his men have coordinated with Samal police to determine the true identity of the suspects. Jess Malabanan
