"Filipino Flash" Nonito Donaire vowed to finish his match early against Panama's Rafael "El Torino" Concepcion.
"For us, we have to rise for that occasion and there’s always a pressure when it comes to that, but we always use that to have a positive mentality and a positive drive to do our best,” Donaire said at a press conference in Las Vegas.
Donaire's bout against Concepcion comes three months after he technically knocked out Mexican Martinez.
“El Torino" said he is also training very hard for the match.
"I’m training everyday for this fight. This is my job. So be ready for this fight,” said Concepcion.
The boxing champion's bout is the main event for the "Pinoy Power 2" on August 15 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
The boxing event also features Filipino boxers Bernabe Concepcion and Mark Jason Melligen in the undercard matches.
"Ang pinag-aaralan ko po kung paano ko siya harangin. Paano ko siya malapitan kasi po ano siya hit and run po,” said Concepcion, referring to his opponent Mexican-American Steven Luevano, the WBO featherweight champion.
Concepcion, a Freddie Roach-trained fighter is at 29-1-1, with 17 knockouts. Luevano has a 36-1-1 record, with 15 knockouts.
Undefeated Cuban heavyweight Odlanier Solis is also set to fight in “Pinoy Power 2.”
"Pinoy Power 2" broadcast live on pay-per-view, and tickets will be available this Saturday.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said Manny Pacquiao's dominance gives Filipino fighters an extra boost in the boxing event.
"Philippine boxers are very well skilled. They are very entertaining. People in the United States and around the world love to see them fight because I mean it as a great compliment,” Arum said.
Arum, meanwhile, announced that the Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto battle will take place on November 14 at the MGM Grand Arena.
