SURIGAO DEL NORTE - One can never be confident during the campaign season especially when reaching homestretch.

This was Senator Grace Poe's comment when asked about being dislodged by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte from the top spot in the latest surveys of major pollsters Pulse Asia and Social Weather Stations (SWS).

In the latest Pulse Asia survey commissioned by ABS-CBN, Duterte has overtaken Poe, who had dominated pre-election surveys since declaring her bid to run.

Poe said she will study what can still be improved in her campaign.

The March 29 - April 3 Pulse Asia survey saw 30% of 4,000 registered voters nationwide picking Duterte as their top choice for president.

Poe followed Duterte with 25%.

The survey's error margin of plus minus 1.5 percent means that Duterte was clearly ahead of the pack.

Meanwhile, Vice President Jejomar Binay and administration candidate Mar Roxas were statistically tied at third place with 20% and 19% respectively.

Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago was at the bottom spot with 2% of the votes.

On the other hand, the SWS poll, conducted on March 30 - April 2 and commissioned by BusinessWorld, saw 27% of the respondents picking Duterte.

Poe, meanwhile, ranked second with 23%, six percentage points down from her 29% in the previous poll.

Given the survey's margin of error of +/-3, the senator was statistically tied with Binay who got 20%.

At third place was Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas with 18%. Santiago steadied at 3%.

The BusinessWorld-commissioned survey was done using face-to-face interviews with 1,500 adults nationwide.
